Beach Mural Commission

I had the pleasure of painting a mural for Leland, MI local in their brand new house! It was one of may favorite commission pieces that I have done. I will say, painting on an untouched wall in a brand new house is a little terrifying.

My clients were looking for a beach scene, that could home their two glass blown herons that they purchased on their travels. They stated I could pretty much do whatever I wanted, and only requesting that I add a boat in the water. The first thing I thought of when I saw this beautiful space was " I want it to look like the Herons can just walk up to the water". Of course I also noticed that the light in the alcove was a perfect "natural" sun, and that I had to have some huge fluffy clouds in the sky.

While I was painting my clients did have company over many times as I was working mostly weekends. I often had an audience, and they would come chat with me while I was painting. I even gave a little painting lesson to my client because she loved how my clouds looked so "effortless". After I got over my nerves, I did not mind when people came over to watch.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I was so blessed to be the artist they chose for the job. I look forward to more commissions, and murals.
